Honouring retired OzChild foster carers

Foster Care, News | Posted June 21, 2022

Recently we celebrated the commitment of some very special carers at a ceremony and morning tea event held in honour of retired OzChild carers.

In late 2021 OzChild established a Life Member program aimed at recognising the enormous contribution retiring carers have made to the lives of children and young people, to the child welfare sector and to OzChild.

25 carers were recognised in this inaugural year, with the unveiling of a life member honour board at our Frankston office on Thursday 16 June.

Dedicating a lifetime to caring is something we believe is worth celebrating, and through our Life Member program we are able to recognise the contribution made by these carers whose service to the community, to children and young people will be etched in the history of OzChild forever.

“Retired carers are such integral part of the OzChild foster care community, providing invaluable support to carers and staff, while we will miss those who have retired from active care, we look forward to their continued involvement with the OzChild foster care program as a sounding board, friend and mentor for many more years to come.”

– Amy, Program Manager – Foster Care South

We extend a heartfelt thank you, on behalf of everyone at OzChild, and the children and young people whose lives have been touched by these carers.
