2023 Elizabeth Tudor Award Winner – Lisa Laing

This year’s Elizabeth Tudor Award Recipient has been a dedicated carer for 10 years, with a passion and commitment to the children in her life that goes above and beyond expectation.

Lisa Laing has a heart full of compassion and an indomitable spirit that makes her a stand-out carer who selflessly cares for those in need, leaving an indelible mark on their lives.

Rightfully nominated by her support worker and case manager, they have seen first-hand how Lisa approaches her role as a carer. Lisa exhibits a strong sense of service to others, particularly in her commitment to fostering and providing a loving home for children who have experienced trauma and disadvantages.

Lisa’s home is a safe place for three full-time placements, while also offering respite to other children. Her commitment to advocating for the children’s well-being, preserving their cultural connections, and actively participating in the OzChild community showcases her passion for making a positive impact everywhere.

As she accepts this well-deserved award, Lisa’s legacy as a dedicated carer will continue to shine brightly, reminding us of the profound impact one person’s compassion can have on the world.

The Elizabeth Tudor Award is awarded in honour of Elizabeth Tudor, who dedicated her life to community work – especially helping vulnerable women and children, and who was a Life Member of OzChild.

Nominations for the Elizabeth Tudor Award are received from case workers on behalf of OzChild foster and kinship carers and are judged based on the qualities displayed by Elizabeth, in her honour.

We congratulate Lisa on her award and thank her for sharing our vision, giving children and young people the chance to shine.
