CaringLife app launch

We were delighted to be part of the official launch of the CaringLife app which took place on 26 June.

Photos, certificates, artwork; the precious keepsakes many of us take for granted can be lost or never documented for children & young people in out-of-home care. OzChild foster carers Emma Stirling and Anthony Denahy developed a solution – a platform where carers & kids can upload these special memories, giving children and young people access to their childhood memories for life.

In Australia, the data tells us if a child spends more than six months in care, they are likely to never go back permanently to birth family, 41% of children currently in out-of-home care have been there for more than five years. And through multiple studies on placement changes we know 40% will experience between 2-5 placements, 14% between 6-10 and a staggering 32% will have more than 11 placements*.

Thinking about these stats it’s no wonder many misplace, lose or never have records of their memories – CaringLife means, throughout their journey children and young people will be able to create their identity, affording them the simple right of holding onto who they are.
